EG MT collaborated with the Malta Career Guidance Association in the organisation of the Annual Euroguidance Conference entitled ‘Supporting Career Guidance through Artificial Intelligence’. The conference took place on Friday 28th November, 2025, at AX The Palace, Sliema.
The conference brought together over 140 career practitioners, including career advisors, guidance teachers, educators from middle, secondary, and post-secondary schools, employment advisors from Jobsplus, among others. Its’ scope focused on exploring one of the most pressing questions facing education today: how can artificial intelligence support – rather than undermine – career guidance?
Prof Alexiei Dingli gave an enlightening keynote speech entitled: “Will Robots take your job?”
The discussions during the conference made one thing clear: AI will shape the future of education and work, but it will not define it alone. The defining force will be the values, judgement and professionalism of those who guide young people every day.
Looking ahead, participants called for clear national guidelines on AI use, practical training for educators and guidance professionals, and updated assessment approaches that reflect new realities. They emphasised the importance of developing AI literacy among learners, establishing ethical standards, and ensuring that all innovation remains firmly grounded in human-centred values. Above all, the way forward requires a coordinated, system-level response that supports practitioners while safeguarding students’ wellbeing.
