The National School Support Services (NSSS) with the support of the Malta Career Guidance Association (MCGA), organised the national Euroguidance conference ‘The Transition of students with a disability from compulsory schooling to further education and/or the labour market’. The Conference took place on Wednesday 23rd November 2022 at the Dolmen Hotel, Qawra.
The conference gathered over 100 career practitioners – career advisors, guidance teachers and educators from the middle, secondary and post-secondary schools and employment advisors from Jobsplus. The scope of the conference was to grasp a better understanding of the challenges faced by students with a disability in their transition from compulsory schooling to further education and employment Prof. Anne-Marie was the keynote speaker addressing how to support students with a disability after compulsory schooling, stepping into adulthood. Several stakeholders with diverse roles shared their own personal experiences regarding their transition from compulsory schooling to further education and/or the labour market. Stakeholders from the Education and Employment sectors engaged in an interactive discussion concerning the key challenges faced by stakeholders in the field in relation to the transition of students with a disability from compulsory education to further studies and/or work. Audience was encouraged to participate in the discussion by asking questions and sharing their experiences regarding the topic.
