On Friday 16th December 2022, Euroguidance Malta organised the fifth Stakeholders’ Forum at the Corinthia Palace, Ħ’Attard. Representatives from the Education and Employment sectors discussed this year’s chosen theme, ‘Innovation of Guidance Provision’. A local speaker, Prof. Vincent Cassar, Head of the Department of Business & Enterprise Management, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy (FEMA), University of Malta, delivered the keynote speech.
Prof. Cassar started off his presentation ‘Seizing the Moment: Are employers and employees seeing eye-to-eye?’ by outlining the main ingredients for economic growth and development to identify how this can be favourable in the local context. In today’s local market, there are three local developments; the increase in Non-Maltese Nationals, change and increased demand in new skill sets and increase in job mobility. Covid-19 pandemic also had an impact on the employment relationship as seen through the lens of the psychological contract. He went on to showcase ‘The National Employment Policy 2021-2030’ outling various statistics on the economical growth according to sectoral employment, gender and nationality, where there was a yearly gradual increase in employment.
